The holidays are almost here and it's never too early to start thinking about the hot toys for Christmas 2013. Toysrus is going to be extending the deadline for its layaway program till December 16. Originally, they wanted to end it on October 31. Now that it is November, parents are going to start looking for the hottest toys.
Toy retailers are starting to put out their holiday lists earlier than usual to give parents a jump start on the holiday season. Some of the toys on list include tablets for kids, toys that work with the iPhone or iPad, and retro toys. Almost every retailer is trying to make shoppers shop with them by creating incentive programs. Some of these programs include free layaway, price matching, and the use of QR codes. Retailers want parents to shop as early as possible. Although these lists are designed to help educate parents on the hottest toys, many retailers are trying to get into the heads of children. One reason why retailers are advertising early is because 2012 is an election year. We expect that the advertising should pick up again after the elections are over.
Toys that incorporate the use of technology are going to be huge this year. The vast majority of toys incorporate the use of technology. One of the hot toys this year is a 911 Porche that you can control with your iPad. You drive the car by tilting the iPad.
Last year one of the hottest toys was the LeapPad. Kids who were able to get it were lucky. This year there is a new model with a faster processor and more memory. There is a camera on it that allows kids to take a picture either on the front or back of the device. For older kids, there are so many different tablets this year. Tablets are now being designed for the whole family. They include parental controls on them which allow parents to control the content that their kids see. These tablets are great for parents who don’t want to spend the full price on a full featured tablet like the iPad.
Furby is back in action in 2012. We first saw Furby in 1998. Retro toys are making a huge comeback in 2012. A lot of parents will remember the original one. They are still just as cute and more interactive than before. They have got cute expressions and kids can feed him with their hands. You can even use your iPad to feed Furby. Not only is Furby back, Cabbage Patch dolls are back and even Hot Wheels. Lego has put out a line of toys for girls called Lego Friends which have colored pieces that appeal to girls.
There are a lot of tech toys but even retro toys are including technology inside of them. One of the biggest toys for girls is going to be the Monster High High School. It has all of the rooms that you see in the Monster High Universe.
